The Stax Museum of American Soul Music, located at the original site of the legendary Stax Records in the heart of Soulsville USA in Memphis, Tennessee, welcomes you to all things Stax. This 17,000-square-foot facility with more than 2,000 cultural artifacts, music exhibits, video footage, and items of memorabilia is designed to preserve and promote the legacy of American soul music, particularly that of Stax Records. With permanent Soul Music exhibits, like Soul Train, to changing exhibits, like Wattstax and Blaxploitation, the mission of the Stax Museum is to keep the memory of Stax soul music legends alive forever. And because we are the only soul music museum in the world, you'll also find programs, special events, concerts, exhibits and memorabilia dedicated to other soul music artists and labels, including that of Muscle Shoals, Motown, Atlantic, and Hi Records.

For the most soulful gifts in the world, check out "We're selling our soul!" - our online museum gift shop of Stax-related music and merchandise. We continue to add dozens of new items that can be found exclusively at the Stax Museum's Satellite Records & Gift Shop. We've made shopping online as easy as possible, so that music fans from around the world can own any or all of the great music themed gift items.

We dare you not to dance at your computer while listening to the famous music recorded by Stax music artists, much of which is available only in our online museum shop or by visiting the Satellite Records and Gift Shop. Whether you are a Stax aficionado or a newcomer to the music that changed American culture forever, this site is designed for you to learn about the great legacy of Stax Records, and about what the Stax Museum of American Soul Music is doing to keep it alive.

We'll help you plan your visit, whether it's for one person, a family, or a group tour, and tell you a little about Memphis, Tennessee, the music Mecca of the world. And we'll gladly help you handle the details for any kind of special event you'd like to host at the Stax Museum, from weddings and rehearsals to dinners, corporate parties, anniversaries, and other celebrations.

Don't forget to visit the site dedicated to our Stax Music Academy, a state-of-the-art facility adjacent to the Museum on our Soulsville Campus where we mentor potentially at-risk inner-city youth through our numerous music education programs. We're not only helping launch the next Isaac Hayes, Staple Singers, Otis Redding, Rufus Thomas, or Bar-Kays of the future, but we also instill pride and respect in our youngsters to help make them great community leaders of the future.
